Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc., is an American company established in 2005 as the successor company to Rayovac Corporation (with a history of more than a century on the US market). Energizer Holding Inc., is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary batteries and portable lighting products and a long-time Rayovac competitor. The transaction was signed in January 2018 and, following its envisaged completion, will expand Energizer’s presence in the international markets and increase its portfolio by adding brands such as Rayovac and Varta to its lineup, while Spectrum Brands will refocus its activity as part of the “re-allocation of capital strategy towards a faster-growing and higher-margin Spectrum Brands”.
